Ever Together - Equality and Justice

In the spirit of our slogan "Stronger Together" I have a plan to help move our society and institutions toward equality and justice.  We should stand for equal civil and economic rights for all American citizens regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation. I strongly support the Fourth Amendment’s prohibition of unreasonable search and seizure and believe that the amendment applies to privacy as well as liberty.  Talk is cheap, we must finally act and take steps forward towards a better union.

Criminal Justice reform - End private prisons and any other economic incentive towards incarceration. Release all non-violent drug possession charges starting with marijuana and opioids.  Legalize weed and de-criminalize opioids. Use treatment in sentencing instead of incarceration.

Police conduct reform - Body cameras on every officer in the field never to be turned off.  Better training on deescalating situations.  Moving some responsibilities for the homeless and mentally ill from the police to social workers.

Racial Reconciliation - There should be at least a conversation about what would work to heal our society and bring more equality and justice to all.  Everything including reparations should be on the discussion table.
